Project Profile: Study Spaces

Happy Back-to-School Season! As we transition from a fun-filled summer in Massachusetts, it's time to prepare for the new school year. Let's give a round of applause for managing summer’s BBQs, sports, and graduation festivities. With a few weeks of warm weather left, families are getting back into the back-to-school routine.

Create a Dedicated Homework Area: Setting up a dedicated homework station is crucial for your child's success. Designate a specific location where your kids can complete their homework assignments efficiently. A well-organized homework area fosters responsible habits and provides structure, making it easier for children to stay on task. Equip this space with workspace essentials, supplies, and educational gadgets before school starts to ensure a smooth transition.

We have worked on many study spaces and homework nooks for clients over the years and wanted to showcase some of our favorites!

Elfa Workplace Solution in Boston, MA

This client set up a pretty good space for herself, but it was difficult to keep all of her supplies organized in this funky little corner of the bedroom. Her Elfa storage solution utilized the deep windowsill and created additional space that could be used for a file cart. This new system is similar in layout but much more functional!

Flexible Workstations for Kids in Sudbury

This client wanted to create a homework zone for her son in his bedroom but wasn’t sure how to make it work. We did our usual sorting and purging, as well as some rearranging, to make space for his desk. We also installed some floating shelves from Ikea to give him space to display his toys and other decor to make it more personal. This is now a fun and functional space for work and play!

Accessible Art Space in Andover

Twin kiddos shared this low table and art cart for crafts and homework but the family wanted to have more flexibility to adapt to their changing needs as they grow. This Elfa work station setup provided ample display space for LEGO creations and easy access to craft supplies. The adjustable design ensures it adapts to their growing needs, making it perfect for both homework and creative activities.

Sleek Desk Solution in Somerville

A simple desk upgrade with shelving and a matching chair helped declutter and expand a student's growing library. We also utilized a door hook for practical storage of a backpack and jewelry, adding both functionality and style.

Dream Workspace Transformation in Somerville

This client said that she dreamed to one day have a place to work on her own projects outside of her day job, and we were able to make that dream a reality! We helped a client transform an underused basement space into a dream craft and work area. The newly designed space features storage drawers and a pegboard to keep supplies visible and organized. This multi-functional area is perfect for craft projects, homework, or remote work.

By implementing these back-to-school organization tips, you can create efficient and inspiring study spaces that will set your children up for success throughout the school year.
