How To Organize Your Cleaning Supplies
Whether or not you clean your own home, keep life simple by organizing your cleaning supplies. There’s nothing worse than a sudden mess and no supplies in sight! Read below on how you can have your cleaning supplies ready to grab-and-go at a moment’s notice.
Store your cleaners in the place it cleans
If you’re having trouble storing all of your cleaning supplies in one place, consider keeping the cleaning supplies in the room they belong to, ie. keep your kitchen cleaning products under the kitchen sink and your bathroom cleaning supplies in the bathroom. If you like to separate your cleaning rags by type and location, try color coding them. Red for the bathroom, blue for the kitchen, white for general dusting, etc. Storing supplies under the sink? A turntable can help you access everything you need.
Corral them
As we’ve already mentioned, simplicity is key when it comes to cleaning. Corral all of your cleaning supplies in a caddy that is easy to transport around the house. We love recommending this one from our studio. Looking for a 2-in-1? This storage caddy can nest inside of this cleaning bucket. We also love this stylish Favori bin that can also corral your cleaning products to tote from room to room in a modern and stylish way.
If you have a lot of cleaning supplies, separate them so that the ones in the caddy are for your everyday use products only.
Use Vertical Space
Are your brooms and dusters scattered all over? Get them organized using this Grook Tool Holder which will keep your supplies from falling all over the place and neaten your space in an instant.
Additionally if you’re lacking under the sink storage, hang your cleaning products on the back of a door with either an elfa over-the-door rack or an over the door shoe organizer.
Check in and on your cabinet door
If you’re able to store your cleaning supplies under the sink, check to see if you have enough depth clearance to also put a hanging organizer on the inside of the door like this from The Container Store. Another great product that we love to install is this pull-out cabinet organizer. Let everything come to you rather than getting knocked over in the back!
Go natural
News flash, many cleaning products contain toxic chemicals that can be unhealthy for you and the environment. Consider making your own cleaning sprays using vinegar, baking soda and water. Pour your cleaning solution into a clear glass spray bottle like this and label it with some fun washi tape.
Don’t feel like making it yourself? Check out our friends at Force of Nature. Their cleaning product is non-toxic, but has the same cleaning strength as bleach. Wowzers!
There’s no reason for your cleaning products to not be organized. Sort your cleaners by type and then find the best way to store them. If you’re trying to live a more green and sustainable life, swap out your toxic cleaners for non-toxic. Bring your toxic cleaners to your town hazardous waste day or hire Clean Out Your House to pick them up and dispose of them for a fee.
